Editing a Property

Update property details and track changes over time with rate history entries.

Editing Property Details

To edit an existing property, navigate to the property detail page and select the edit option. You can update any of the core property details including:

• Property address
• Property type, bedrooms, and bathrooms
• Current estimated value
• Loan balance and interest rate
• Rental income amount

When you save changes, the property's financial dashboard and portfolio summary metrics update immediately to reflect the new values.

Adding Rate History Entries

For values that change over time — such as interest rates, rental income, property value, and loan balance — PropZy supports rate history tracking. Instead of simply overwriting the current value, you can add a new rate history entry that records:

• The new value (e.g., the new interest rate)
• The effective date — when the change took effect

Rate history entries are displayed on the Property Details page in chronological order, giving you a complete record of how values have changed over the life of the property.

When to Use Each Approach

Understanding the difference between editing and adding rate history is important for keeping accurate records:

Edit the property directly when:

• You're correcting a mistake (e.g., a typo in the purchase price)
• You're updating static details (e.g., changing the property type or bedroom count)
• You want to overwrite the current value without keeping a historical record

Add a rate history entry when:

• Your lender changes your interest rate
• You receive a rental increase or decrease
• You want to record a new property valuation
• You refinance and the loan balance changes
